Kursk is a city in western Russia, the administrative center of Kursk Oblast, located about 530 km south of Moscow. It stands on the Tuskar River near its confluence with the Seym, and serves as a regional hub for industry, education, and transport. Kursk is widely known for the Battle of Kursk (1943), one of the largest tank battles of World War II, commemorated by memorials and museums in the region. The city has a mix of Soviet-era architecture and newer development, along with Orthodox churches and public parks.
